Trying to figure out if this is a North Side thing or what, because I havent seen this any place else: Several years ago when hubby and I were house hunting in several different NS neighborhoods, the majority of the houses that we looked at had kitchen sinks and cabinets in a room on the second floor. It wasnt like it was a second apartment unit in the house, or even a mother in law suite. Just a room as described --no stove or fridge to be found or even a designated niche for them. Most of these houses were built between 1920-1950s. Didnt see this in houses in Bellevue, just within the Pittsburgh city limits in Brighton Heights, Troy Hill, Spring Hill and perhaps a couple other places I forgot about. Ive lived in the East End, and hubby comes from the Slopes, and neither of us has seen this before. The house we ended up buying has the same set up, but oddly enough, no Pittsburgh toilet. Any ideas?
