Trying to track down an issue on a MKV GTI. It has a really rough groan kind of sound under heavy braking. It sounds like it is coming from the front left. It also had an intermittent hesitation at part throttle. I checked the brakes and rotors have very little lip and pads have plenty of life. Found a split boot on the FL CV shaft. Replaced it. Bearings seem good. Replaced stock DV with piston style to address the hesitation. Has new coils, plugs, PCV and cam follower. Groan is still there. Havent noticed any more hesitation but it has developed a slight metallic buzz on tip in. It sounds like it might be in the area of the new DV. Im going to check for clearance issues or any loose parts around the DV, as well as items in the car that might be buzzing. Has anyone had and noises with the piston style valve in the early 2.0t? Any thoughts on the groan sound under braking? It doesnt really pulse or shake or pull. It just gets loud and you can feel a slight high frequency vibration in the pedal. Im going to check ball joints and subframe bolts.
