Tue, 29 Oct 2013 “But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.” 1Peter 3:4 (KJV) “Growing up I had a meek and quiet spirit. Then I experienced life and became a mad woman. Now I’m relearning how to be meek and quiet again.” Ah man. Can you relate to that statement? Well I sure can and so could Naomi. She left for Moab with her husband and two sons while the famine in Bethlehem-Judah subsided. Trusting her man…like so many of us good wives do. Her husband ended up dying and so did her two sons. The only people left were two women whom her sons had found and married while in Moab. Naomi understood what it felt like to leave hopeful and return hurt and angry. Maybe your first marriage started with high hopes and left you hurt and bitter. Maybe your first “true” friendship scared the living daylights out of you causing you to never trust women again. Maybe you trusted your husband’s financial decision would land you and the kids in the Promised Land and well let’s just say things didn’t turn out as everyone expected. Even when we experience hurts and disappointments, God is still teaching great lessons. If we can only calm down long enough and take our minds off of the problems, we would see a Master Problem Solver at work in our lives. He is busy making something good out of messy situations. He is at work and you can trust Him. Prayer: Lord, I love how You speak to me. That’s exactly how I feel. Help me learn to be teachable and quiet in my soul. If I have to look down and tell my emotions to “Hush!” I will. I am desperate to see You,to know You better, to hear Your voice talking to me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
