Tuesday 15 October Motorists are advised to take extreme care when travelling through the District. Rivers are rising rapidly in all areas. The following flooding/slips have been reported. Pipiriki Road - closed 8-9km from Raetihi – slip. Kururau Road – 3.5km - tree blocking road. Tawata Road – tree and slip blocking road 10km after school. Maungaroa Road – closed - tree blocking road at 2km mark. Opotiki Road – closed - trees blocking road halfway up the road. Ruatiti Road – slips – caution required. Oio Road – slips. Kururau Road (Hospital Hill) – slip and trees down – caution required. Otunui South Road - about 1km from River Road - slip across 1.5 lanes - passable by small 4WD. State Highway 43 (Forgotten Highway) - flooding at Paparata. State Highway 43 (Forgotten Highway) - closed from Ohura turnoff - massive slip in gorge. State Highway 4 - Erua - surface flooding. Ohura Road, between Matiere and Ohura - closed - flooding. State Highway 4 - south of Raetihi - flooding. Mangapapa Road closed – Otangiwai surface flooding approx 100 metres on town side of Aria turnoff Tokirima Road – Closed Cuffs Road – Flooding and slips Erua Road – Flooding and slips – large drop out so very dangerous – extreme caution required. State Highway 4 North of Ongarue turnoff - culvert blocked and water over road. Kawautahi Road – 7km from Owhango closed due to slip. Shannon /Tainui Streets, Ohakune - flooding.
