Tuesday 17th July 2013-LAE LAE URBAN COUNTING UPDATE By Sylvester Gawi Counting in the Lae Urban LLG was still in the elimination process for the ward 1 council as at 5pm this afternoon. This has also prompted the delay in the counting of ballot papers in the ward two areas for the Lord Mayor seat. The number of candidates contesting in the ward 1 council seat has been the case why the delay has been on the elimination process since yesterday. A total of 42 candidates have contested the ward 1 council seat and so far since yesterday a total of 32 candidates have been eliminated with 10 remaining. Currently those in the top five positions are Peter Kama Mugua leading with 726 votes, followed by Max Geno with 691, Marakus Kaupa on third place with 570, running fourth is Andrew Leo with 561 and on fifth place is Robert More with 539. In a meantime frustrated Lord Mayor Supporters and candidates have been camping outside the counting venue at the National Polytechnic Institute awaiting counting officials to fast track counting and update them of the results.
