When faith means nothing 1 Romans 4:14 For if those who depend on the law are heirs, faith means nothing and the promise is worthless,(NIV ) Romans 4:14 For if they which are of the law [be] heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect:(KJV) The law and faith do not agree. They are like opposite end of a bar magnet or compass, the same end cannot be north and south, it is either north or south. The same thing applies to faith and the law. It cannot be by faith and by observing the law, it is either faith or the law. Galatians 3:12 says the law is not of faith. The Amplified version puts it this way; But the Law does not rest on faith [does not require faith, has nothing to do with faith],... and the Message Bible says it this way; Rule-keeping does not naturally evolve into living by faith,... Faith is made void where the law is. The word void means; empty; vacant; not occupied; destitute; not producing any effect; ineffectual. No wonder our faith is not producing the desired result, no wonder our faith is ineffectual and without effect. We are mixing faith and law together and dont even know it. We are claiming Gods promises by faith, trying to receive healing, deliverance, provision, etc. by faith while still living under the law or by the law. We are living by the law, yet we expect faith to produce. Many believers are living under the law and dont even know it. What does it mean to live under the law or by the law? You are still living under the law if you base your acceptance before God on your own righteousness and goodness, rather than His righteousness and goodness. If you are still trying to come up with your own righteousness rather than RECEIVE His free gift of righteousness, you are living under the law. Romans 5:17; ...much more they which RECEIVE abundance of grace and of the GIFT of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)
