Tuesday 4th Sep, 2013. DO WHATEVER HE TELLS YOU Luke 22:7-13. “They left and found things just as Jesus had told them, so they prepared the Passover” (Luke 22:13). Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is the master key that opens the door for obedience to come in and reside in the behaviour. “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that he rewards those who earnestly seek Him. (Hebrews 11:6). Jesus’ disciples might have wondered the manner of man Jesus was, He had done some unusual and unexpected things before now but it did not take long that Jesus cleared their wondering minds and drew their attention to an assignment that made Him so real to them again. We find in today’s reading Jesus sending His disciples into the city with specific instructions on what they would see and the steps to be taken. “As you enter the city, a man carrying a jar of water will meet you; follow him to the house that he enters” (vs 10). The disciples would have hesitated to remind Jesus that men do not carry jars of water but that it was a task for women. But they had obviously learned to have confidence in what Jesus says, so without questioning His word, they went and found things just the way He had told them. We read also in John 2; how Jesus gave a simple command, few words and the result marveled people who were at the special function. (John 2:7). “ Jesus said to the servants, fill the jars with water”. After they obeyed the water turned choicest wine, such that the master of ceremony could not help but ask the celebrant why he changed the order of ceremony by giving the choicest wine last. Obeying Jesus by faith brings about the unusual answers to our needs. What is God telling you to do? Are you still contemplating on the outcome? The result of our obeying God is the best left for Jesus to decide. There is a command in military that says “ Obey before complain” when we give in to Jesus’ commands with a simple heart that has been dedicated to hearing Him, God moves in our lives to do unusual things that would surpass our imagination. Just as Jesus’ disciples put their faith in Him, you too can receive the revelation of God’s glory when you stay in the place of obeying Jesus’ word. Prayer: Jesus you are the wonderful name that never fades and is never forgotten by your children. Help me to trust you in quick obedience in Jesus name! Amen! For further study, please read: John 2:1-11 and Hebrews 11:6-10.
