Tuesday 630pm northwest hs track (hopefully we can get on the track) if not we will slide up to oak ridge park you can do whatever track workout you want – I plan to time myself for 2 miles Thursday 630pm: Salem lake starting from the water fountain on Linville road Sunday 8am: Salem lake starting from the water fountain on Linville road Sunday- the past two weeks their have been people that are starting at 7am and doing two laps. if you are thinking about a fall marathon, you may want to jump in at 7am on Sunday morning. Sunday 7:10am - I will be riding a lap around the lake on my mountain bike to loosen up for the 8am lap. Sunday morning - a Greensboro runner paid our club a compliment. He said your club has a lot of good runners. I agreed completely. We are a very competitive group. But - we encourage everyone to come out no matter how fast you are. By running with others, you will get faster. Just to hash last Thursdays group run: to make a point: As me, Derek and George ran behind Sara/ Caleb and her baby stroller, it reminded me of the only other time I found myself behind a baby stroller. 2011- I was running St. Leos and Paul Mistor past me with a half mile to go pushing a double baby stroller. Not a single, but a double. I ended up running a miserable 21:32. It made me so mad I went on a diet the next day. I ended up losing 18 lbs and 6 months later at Warren Rives in High Point I broke 19:00. Sara has inspired me to pull that diet back out and dust it off. Now most of you know that Sara is hard core and has recently she placed 3rd overall for the women in a 50k and a week later placed 1st in a 30k. But - its still a stroller. A couple of weeks ago I talked about goals. I threw out there my goal was to break 49:00 at the Salem lake trail race. When making a goal - you should test yourself to see if you are inline to make your goal. It could be a time trial or a shorter race. If you dont think you are inline to make your goal then you need to create a change. Change is very very hard to do. Where I work - we are constantly changing things and tweaking processes to make things better. We should do the same thing for our running goals. My point is I am going to have to change my diet in order to achieve my goal. ugggggg- no more pizza, no more smoking pretzel rods or drinking arbor mist ( at least until after Salem Lake) . As runners, we all have goals and expectations. What have you done to test yourself lately and what changes if any do you need to make to reach your goals? I will give you one hint to speed you up. Come run with us. Thursday and Sunday.
