Blackmail, Machiavellian style-treachery, political greed, backstabbing and growing internal conflicts within the opposition People’s National Movement (PNM) party is allegedly responsible for Martin Joseph, age 65 and father of 4, deciding to commit suicide by way of drowning at Grange Bay (south/westward) Tobago stated an anonymous source. Joseph, not a good swimmer, knew the beach was known for its strong currents where surfers normally use to ride the waves. He also visited Tobago and the beach regularly. The source blamed a power hungry “Cabal” within the PNM that broke the Camel’s back resulting in Joseph’s move to do the unbelievable by committing suicide to save and protect vital/powerful secrets he held over the past years on senior members of the party while being General Secretary (GS) of the PNM and Minister of National Security under the Patrick Manning’s Administration. The source further explained that Joseph was recently made PNM’s deputy campaign manager in 2014 in a planned attempt by the Cabal to lure him to give up very important but confidential information he held on Patrick Manning and prominent senior loyalists to Manning. Recently, the source stated, that Joseph told a senior official of the party that he would not tender any information that would jeopardize his friendship with Manning and other persons within the party and they must stop going to that distance because it may hurt the party. That senior individual not being pleased got mad vex and started to cuss-up Joseph for withholding secrets. The official was taken aback upon hearing Joseph returned the same expletive language to them. Joseph has always been a Manning’s loyalist and was part of an inner circle under Manning’s leadership (Dr Keith Rowley was not a part of it). The source mentioned Joseph was very disturbed of certain dictatorial tendencies and the manner in which the party’s leadership was conducting itself for the 2015 General Election. Joseph warned them that the party may lose the next election if they continue in that manner. Also, the source mentioned that Joseph disapproved of repeated “blackmail, Machiavellian style-treachery, greed, and continuing witch-hunting” on certain ‘persons’ who may be deemed to be holding huge funds in their name but on behalf of the PNM and are perceived to be in opposition to the current PNM leadership. The source went on to say these individuals are not prepared to surrender any finance to PNM under the current leadership of Dr Rowley. The source ended by saying Joseph is a private individual but very meticulous and intelligent and was not to be underestimated; and that Joseph can be equated as an Italian Consigliere who will keep any secret or information that are vital or detrimental, and would rather go to his grave with the same. That, he, Joseph, knew what he was doing when he went to Grange Bay yesterday morning and had planned his suicidal-death days ago and before the New Year.
