Tuesday, December 30, 2014 “…brings forth out of his treasure things both old and new” –Matthew 12:35 Good Morning Heavenly Father, Family & Friends!! (*) Yesterday’s Discovered Treasure for Today: “This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life” (John 3:16 Message Bible). (*) Today’s Application: By this time most of us have taken down the Christmas trees and packed away all the colorful seasonal decorations. The cookies and candies are all gone or given away, and some of us are trying to lose the extra weight we’ve put on during the Christmas season. But when we pack all the Christmas decorations away, lets not be guilty of packing away the spirit of Christmas with everything else! The Kings have returned to the East and the Bethlehem star in the sky is gone, but now the appointed and God-directed work of making Christ known to our world begins (Mark 16:15). Christ was born to give us light and life, help and overcoming power. At Christmastime we celebrated the birthing of this world event. Now we become the spiritual lights that show forth and direct others the way to this saving love, care and concern of Jesus Christ. With the Christmas lights packed away for another year, we are now the guiding lights that illuminate our world with Christ’s love. Just as the luminaries led many folk to a number of our driveways and homes to celebrate Christ’s birth in recent days, so we are now those lights that lead others to find this Gods love and forgiveness. The true meaning of Christmas is found in the act of giving. The King James version of John 3:16 that many of us were taught to memorize states it this way: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” God is found loving us so much He literally gave of Himself as a ransom for our restoration, healing and wellbeing. In appreciation of this, let’s keep Christ alive in our hearts and lives hereafter as we share His love towards others, as we give of our resources to support His effort, and as we give our witness to His light and life within our own lives. Let’s not pack Christmas away but walk it out in good faith. When the star in the sky is gone . . . When the kings and princes are home . . . When the shepherds are back with their flocks . . . The Work of Christmas begins--To find the lost; To heal the broken; To feed the hungry; To release the prisoner; To teach the nations; To bring Christ to all; To make music in the heart” (Howard Thurman). 0;-)
