Tuesday, June 11, 2013 Heaven for believers is to be with Jesus Christ forever – wherever He is. I’ve talked about the apparent changes of location for our Heaven as we follow the path of Jesus through the scriptures. 1. The thief and Jesus were together in Paradise (Hades), but when Jesus ascended to be with the father, Paradise ascended with Him and Hades became the place of the damned awaiting their final judgment. 2. Jesus ascended, so our heaven where we will go to be with Him (our Intermediate Heaven) is with Him in His ascended glory. 3. The Celestial City, which is our permanent home in our resurrected bodies. However, we must not forget - another Heaven exists. This is where God, the Trinity, dwells. I do not see us in that Heaven, only God. Even our Celestial City is described as coming down out of Heaven – where God is – as a final gift to us. (Rev. 21:1-8). This all relates – God Pre-exists our timeline. Genesis and John give us the ability to assume activity before the beginning. Job clearly demonstrates activity in a realm about which we know very little. Unless one sees the Pre-existence of Jesus Christ, how can one place complete trust in Him as a Savior? I am not saying that when we make the decision to Trust in Christ and Him alone for your salvation, we know all of this “stuff”. But a process of knowing Christ more completely begins which solidifies assurance that Christ can be trusted to do what He has promised. Part of that assurance is the understanding that Christ pre-existed and it was He who pushed the button and set our timeline in motion and then came and joined us in the journey. Because He can do all that, I can have complete trust in Being with Him in Heaven.
