Tuesday, March 18, 2014 MID-MARCH SNOW STORM TODAY/TONIGHT: A challenging forecast as many factors come into play. A narrow band of hefty snow accumulations will occur from the Mile Lacs region through the Ports and up portions of the North Shore and into northern Wisconsin will set up today. In this band, there will be a chance of seeing 5-9. The models have pushed this band further south than in previous runs. But with the strong NE winds there will be higher accumulations along the North Shore and especially in the higher elevations, snow totals possibly exceeding 10 in some areas. Folks along the South Shore will see some lake enhancement as well, bringing snow totals to 10 or more. From the shoreline to Hayward, to Ironwood, MI, there will be 5-9 of new snow as well. Snow will start this morning, heavy at times this afternoon/evening.
