Tuesday, March 25, 2014 Drinking Deeply Scripture - As a deer longs for streams of water, so I long for You, God. I thirst for God, the living God. When can I come and appear before God? (Psalm 42:1, 2 HCSB) So keep the commands of the Lord your God by walking in His ways and fearing Him. For the Lord your God is bringing you into a good land, a land with streams of water, springs, and deep water sources, flowing in both valleys and hills; (Deuteronomy 8:6, 7 HCSB) Understand that the Lord your God is not giving you this good land to possess because of your righteousness, for you are a stiff-necked people. (Deuteronomy 9:6 HCSB) Observation - Gods Word confirms that there is a river whose streams delight the city of God (Psalm 46:4). When I choose to go to those waters, I find them to be deep and flowing, cold and refreshing, on the heights and even in the depths. There is a river for my soul! It is Christ Himself, the One who renews and restores all who will drink deeply of Him, all who will lay aside their own notions of sufficiency and righteousness and come to Him parched and emptied of self - ready to be filled. Application - Do I possess the needed humility to receive what a God desires to give to me? Is there an urgent longing in my soul to drink of His Living Water? Where have I found His streams flowing in my life? Prayer - Lord Jesus I come to You to drink today. Keep me ever thirsty and longing! Keep me ever drinking and partaking! Keep me from the false idea that Ive had enough; for there is always more. Take me to the deep water sources, Your wellsprings of life and delight. Immerse me in the flood, transforming me from the inside out.
