Chance of rain 50%. --------------------------------------- The 50 year-old Alma woman who fired a weapon and refused to come out of her Pleasant Avenue home last month pleaded no contest Monday to two charges of felonious assault. Laura Yoder agreed with the statement that she was too intoxicated to remember much of anything, which was the reason for the no contest plea. District Court Judge Stewart McDonald accepted the plea and notified Yoder that a sentencing date in front of Rick would be July 28. Yoder faces a maximum penalty of four years in prison. --------------------------------------- A Midland man died following an accident during a dirt bike race over the weekend. The crash happened at the Midland County Fair Grounds. Twenty-three-year-old Benjamin Myers of Midland died when he was involved in an accident with two other bikes. -------------------------------------- General Motors is recalling 3.2 million more cars in the U.S. because of ignition switch problems. The company says it will change or replace the keys on the cars from the 2000 to 2014 model years. GM says the switches can unexpectedly move out of the run position if the cars are jarred, such as by going over railroad tracks or a pothole. That can shut off the engines and disable power steering. -------------------------------------------- AAA Michigan says gasoline prices have risen about 1 cent during the past week to a statewide average of about $3.96 per gallon. The auto club says Monday that prices have risen for the fourth week in a row, but the average is down about 6 cents from this time last year. Of the cities it surveys, AAA Michigan says the cheapest price for self-serve unleaded fuel is in the Marquette area, where its about $3.84 a gallon. The highest average is in the Saginaw, Bay City and Midland areas at about $3.99 a gallon. -------------------------------------------- Sports---Kansas City beat Detroit 11-8 last night to pull with a 1/2 game of the first place Tigers. 6:40 tonight on 104.9 WQBX.
