Tuesday Night Talk - Tala Mai.... when helping your mate backfires... what to do now? Your advice please. Dear NIU, My good friend needed to use me as a reference on his CV because he hasnt been working for years. We agreed that I would be his former manager at the warehouse I currently work at. The thing is, hes never worked for me and Im only a shift supervisor where I work. I just wanted to help him out and I know hes a good worker, he just needs a chance. Anyway, he applied for so many jobs I couldnt keep up. I didnt realize so many people would call and check his references. My manager ended up taking a call and approached me afterwards about what had happened. I told him the truth and apologized, saying I was just trying to help my mate out and get this, my boss is offering my mate a position higher than mine based on his CV which is half fabricated. Not only does this mean my mate will be in charge of me with fake credentials, it also means hell be paid more!! What should I do? Angry.
