Tuesday Night’s Forgotten Song of the 80s -- Hang Fire by The Rolling Stones, from 1982. While its tough to come up with a Stones tune from their heyday thats truly forgotten, this short-and-sweeet cut from the bands Tattoo You album comes pretty close -- at least for more casual listeners. Only getting as high as #20 on the Hot 100, this otherwise upbeat song criticizes the economic conditions and general malaise of English society at the time (hang fire is slang for laziness)... but just try realizing that when youre movin like Jagger. The music video screams contractual obligation, a few signature Mick gyrations not withstanding.
