Tuesday, November 25, 2014 -Vancouver, BC - The budding cultural collective known as CATO Academy, have officially launched their NorthWest Campaign to benefit the homeless in Vancouver. The young, progressive minds of the CATO team recognized that by combining urban/street culture - in the form of fashion - with philanthropy, there was an opportunity to attract a whole new demographic and generation of donors. The trendy youth of today that may not even think twice of societal issues, all of sudden become aware of the problems and the campaign at hand - and how they can contribute simply by purchasing an item of clothing they already wanted. This can have an incredible awakening effect and impact on the Millenial Generation that will be our young leaders of tomorrow. The Dry&Warm Initiative will utilize the IndieGoGo platform to facilitate the sale of CATO merchandise and musical packages, with an end goal of raising $5,000 in donations. All proceeds will go to purchasing toques and rain jackets to be hand distributed to the homeless of the city by CATO faculty members, volunteers and supporters. More info can be found on the Offical Campaign Page or via the YouTube promotional video. The #NorthWest Campaign provides our CATO collective with an outlet to debut the sale of original works and projects while also raising awareness and funding to help solve a problem that haunts thousands in our own hometown. The only risk or challenge we have up against us is the fact that in this modern society a majority of us are too distracted to pay attention to those in need. While the people in power do not reward those who are trying to help. We plan to change that. -CATO Co-Founder & Artist, KAi Sky Walker
