Tuesday September 3, 2013 NCIA: Kamunting to attract RM400m investments by year-end TAIPING: The Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (NCIA) is looking forward to securing another RM400mil in investments by year-end in manufacturing, tourism, agriculture and logistics in Kamunting.Based on the mid-year report announced last week, Taiping alone has generated investments of RM166.5mil for the first six months of this year.NCIA chief executive Redza Rafiq said the investments would start flowing from now until year-end.“We have several companies investing, but the big investment will be ploughed in by a joint venture of a Malaysian listed entity and a European counterpart.“These two entities will start investing in the next few months,” he said at a press conference here yesterday.Redza said Northern Perak had gone through some major developments in the past couple of years due to the influx of multinational corporations, the advanced logistics network and the presence of quality infrastructure.“It has a conducive environment and is good for foreign investments as it is nestled among some key industrial parks, which has created an enabling support eco-system for industry players,” he said. The NCIA yesterday launched its Phase 2 development plan in Perak in conjunction with the inauguration of its new office in Taiping.Redza said the investments in these areas were aimed at ensuring the local communities in Northern Perak benefit through job creation. — Bernama
