Tuesday Treasures by Janie 1B September 3, 2013 How beautiful the old songs from the faded songbooks of yesterday. How appropriate for us today in our daily walks. As these songs play repeatedly in my mind, I am led to share one of them with you today. I know of people in my circle of loved ones who are seeking, those who are sick with physical problems and mental problems, those who are concerned about jobs, marriages, and life in general Many of these folks have sick children or children going through unfair trials of life. I pray that these words reach out and touch with HIS LOVE. This song is TRUST and OBEY. It was written in 1887 by John Sammis. He was a young pastor who loved the LORD and lived his life for the GLORY of GOD. The story says that another young man shared his testimony one night and ended with the words, “I don’t know much about the Bible and God, but I only know I am compelled to trust HIM and obey what HE says.” John Sammis with the musical help of Daniel B. Towner took these comments and created this beautiful song of the ages. I hope it brings you JOY today, and that GOD’s PRESENCE in a real way surrounds you. Blessings! Trust and Obey When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word, What a glory He sheds on our way! While we do His good will, He abides with us still, And with all who will trust and obey. Trust and obey, for there’s no other way to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey. Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies, But His smile quickly drives it away; Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh or a tear, Can abide while we trust and obey. Trust and obey, for there’s no other way to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey. Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share, but our toil He doth richly repay; not a grief or a loss, not a frown or a cross, but is blessed if we trust and obey. Trust and obey, for there’s no other way to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey. But we never can prove the delights of His love until all on the altar we lay; for the favor He shows, for the joy He bestows, are for them who will trust and obey. Trust and obey, for there’s no other way to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey. Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at His feet, or we’ll walk by His side in the way; What He says we will do, where He sends we will go; never fear, only trust and obey. Trust and obey, for there’s no other way to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey. Psalm 84:11-12 Isaiah 50:10
