Tuesday night was just charming! The Barn in Schaumburg where the SVC (Spring Valley Choir) usually rehearses was occupied. Instead of cancelling rehearsal our fearless director Helen Sparks Giallombardo used the predicament as a performance opportunity! We spent the evening hopping from one place to another performing a few songs here and there. I was so glad Anneliese Bayer showed up to listen but then happily joined in singing with us all night! What fun! As a warm-up a few of us met at the train station where we greeted folks as they got off the train. Then we caravanned over to sing at a car show for a gathering of Mustang enthusiasts. It was a full-circle feeling following Anneliese s car as it brought back countless high-school memories of driving to fun events together! Our next stop Volkening Lake where everyone was so friendly at the picturesque spot! From there we skipped over to home a very talented barbershop couple where the husband is now homebound and boy did they appreciate every note! Finally our last stop was The Oberweis Ice Cream Shop and who was there waiting for all of us? ...my mom and dad!! There we sang our few final songs of the night and when we got to the timeless Let Me Call You Sweetheart my mom grabbed my dads hand and right there, in their usual dreamlike style, they danced the waltz beautifully!! It was a special moment and an unforgettable night!
