Tuesdays dramatic midterm election results illustrate the continued unease Americans feel over the direction of the country. Notwithstanding a substantial increase in job growth and declining unemployment, millions of Americans do not feel their lives improving -- partly a result of stagnant wage growth. The elections also demonstrate that the country is deeply dissatisfied with the paralyzingly dysfunction in Congress, and want that to change. While the nationwide results were certainly not what I had hoped for, I am deeply grateful for the continued opportunity to serve my constituents and country. I look at each election as a new beginning -- no matter the result -- and will be redoubling my efforts to find common ground with my colleagues from both parties, not only in fixing our economy, but also in addressing the key national security challenges facing our country.
