Turkey has two more World Heritage Sites added to her collection: BURSA CUMALIKIZIK AND IZMIR BERGAMA ENTER UNESCOS WORLD HERITAGE LIST The Birth of Ottoman Empire and Izmir Bergama, as Multi-leveled Cultural Landscape Area have been accepted to UNESCOs World Heritage List during the 38th World Heritages meeting held in Doha, the capital city of Qatar. Convention Concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage Protocol has been accepted by UNESCO in 1972 and signed by 186 countries. The sites of Turkey that have been registered to list are as follows: Historical Areas of Istanbul, Great Mosque and Hospital of Divrigi Hattusha, Nemrut Mountain, Xanthos-Letoon, Archeological Site of Troy, Goreme Natural Park, Cappadocia, Hierapolis Pamukkale, City of Safranbolu, Selimiye Mosque and its Social Complex, Neolithic Site of Catalhoyuk. After the historical decision of the committee and addition of Bergama and Bursa to the list, the number of the places registered From Turkey on the World Heritage List increased from 11 to 13. Bursa, the first capital city of Ottoman State, which reserves a lot of historical monuments from the foundation of the empire is an important industrial hub and home of natural heritage. Cumalizik village of Bursa has a past of 700 years. Cumalizik is also important for bearing architectural texture of Ottoman era and bringing it to this day. Bursa and Cumalikizik are a good examples of Ottoman lifestyle in terms of trade culture and continuity of rural lifestyle close to the city. The Hanlar area including the Orhangazi Kulliye of Bursa and Cumalikizik and its surroundings, consists of six components including the Kulliye of Beyazit davendigar (Murad I), the Kulliye of Yildirim (Bayezid I), the Green (Mehmed I) Kulliye, Muradiye (Murad II) Kulliye and Cumalikizik village. Other site that has been registered to list is Izmir Bergama. Bergama, which is Izmirs doorway to the history with its rich cultural heritage, was known as Pegamon in Archaic Times and deemed as one of the most important arts and cultural centers of Hellnistic era. Bergama which also has the biggest library of the Hellenistic era has been registered to the list in the category of cultural landscapes. Containing the layers of Hellenistic Roman, Eastern Roman and Ottoman eras in itself, Bergama consists of nine components including the Acropolis, the seven Tumuluses around it and Kybele Holy Area. 2 mixed (cultural/natural) 1 natural and 51 cultural, a total of 54 sites, are in UNESCOs Temporary World Heritage List from our country full of unique historical and cultural beauties.
