Turkish President Erdoğan calls his French counterpart Hollande to express solidarity and Prime Minister Davutoğlu to attend anti-terrorism and solidarity demonstrations in Paris ISTANBUL - - DAILY SABAH – 10 Jan 2015 Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan called his French counterpart Francois Hollande late Friday to express Turkeys solidarity with France. The Turkish president also offered his condolences to the victims families. Both presidents agreed to collaborate on anti-terrorism efforts. On Wednesday, three masked gunmen attacked the offices of French magazine Charlie Hebdo, killing 12 people. Footage showing the attackers shooting a policeman outside the magazines offices sent shock waves across the world. Hollande told Erdoğan that France knows Turkey is standing with us. The French president also said that terrorists aim to harm his countrys social peace by creating confusion over Islam, but that the people of France will not be deceived by their goals. Turkeys Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu accepted French governments invitation to attend Sundays anti-terrorism and solidarity demonstrations in Frances capital, Paris. Thousands are expected in Paris on Sunday to participate in the demonstrations against terrorism and to commemorate the victims of Charlie Hebdo shooting and subsequent hostage crises which claimed a total of 20 lives. German PM Angela Merkel, British PM David Cameron, Italian PM Matteo Renzi, Spanish PM Mariano Rajoy and European Councils President Donald Tusk will also attend the demonstrations.
