Turmeric is becoming one of the most widely used natural - TopicsExpress

Turmeric is becoming one of the most widely used natural supplements for our pets and ourselves at the moment. Traditional Asian medicine used turmeric for its ability to detoxify the body, purify the blood, and stimulate bile production in the liver and even to disinfect wounds and treat the symptoms of arthritis and joint damage. Other uses for Turmeric are: Aids in the treatment of epilepsy | Helps relieve allergies | Helps in preventing the formation of cataracts | Used in treating depression (animals can get depressed too!) | Kills parasites | Aids in fat metabolism and weight management | High in fibre and rich in vitamins and mineral | Heals stomach ailments, aids in digestive disorders, and reduces gas and bloating | Acts as a binding agent and therefore great for treating diarrhoea Suggested dosage is a quarter teaspoon per day for every 5kg of pet weight. It can be sprinkled directly on food or mixed with coconut oil and water to make “Golden Paste” Click on the link below for the recipe Start with just a small amount at first and then gradually increase to the recommended amount for the weight. It should be noted that Turmeric is a binding agent and too much can cause constipation. Keep an eye on your pets’ stools and reduce if they are in any discomfort. Plenty of water should always be available. As with any supplement, if your pet has any pre-existing conditions then do consult your vet before using.
