Turn Back dont Turn Up! Hebrews 3:12-13 See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. Turn down for what?! Its the rhetorical question asked by Lil John to all the party people. It is an infectious anthem that takes the listeners to a feverish pitch of being Turnt Up! Being Turnt up, is losing all inhibition often times under the influence of some intoxicating agent. There nothing wrong with having a good time soberly and responsibly but to go through life continually Turnt up means that somewhere you turned away. The rapper J Cole said, youve come a long way, its just the wrong way! There is a way that seems right to a man but in the end it leads to death. Its time for us to turn back to God. In 2 Chronicles it says, If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and TURN from their wicked ways and humble themselves then I would hear from heaven and heal their land. There is a lot of healing our land needs from racism, violence, poverty, and corruption. Its not going to be healed by getting Turnt up! After we come down from our high, wake up with our lover, or leave the party the issues will still be there. When we turn back to God, thats when things begin to change. I believe prayer changes things but I also believe that changed people change things. Turn back to God means: 1. Repent of your sins. Recognize where you went wrong and get back in right relationship with God. 2. Redo the things you did at first. Restore the spiritual disciplines of prayer, fasting, worshipping, serving, and giving. Put this practices back in place to strengthen you spiritually. 3. Restore right relationships. We need to encourage each other to stay on the right path. If there is somebody you know that is in danger of turning away from the faith go encourage them to turn back to God. Dear God, Help us to Turn Back to you. Weve been Turnt Up too long. Its time for us to sober up, get up, so we can go up! There is much that needs to be healed in the world and we are your wounded healers. Use us today to turn somebody back to you. In Jesus Name, Amen
