Turning Around Read 1 Peter 2:9-12 (NIV) 9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 10 Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy. 11 Dear friends, I urge you, as aliens and strangers in the world, to abstain from sinful desires, which war against your soul. 12 Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us. Bible Thought: “He Leads me in the right path” (Psalm 23:2, NIV) A few years ago several of us were hiking the Cotsworld Way in England which took us from Chipping Camden to Bath. For the most part of the trail was well-signed and we stayed on track. But sometimes a sign post was missing or moved or illegible. And a few times we simply missed spotting the marker. At these times we were rescued by “trail angels,” people who saw us on the wrong track and directed us back to the right one. On one memorable occasion we were traveling down a road when we were hailed by a woman shouting at us from an upstairs window, “Are you hiking the Cotsworld Way?” “Yes,” we replied. “Then you need to turn around and go back to an intersecting road where you will find the way.” Who knows where we might have gone if we hadn’t been assisted by this total stranger. Have you run into “trail angels” on your life walk? If we look, we witness God’s grace to us. Abundant each day. What a glorious way to live: receiving and giving grace! Heavenly Father, as we receive Your abundant grace help us to give grace to others as well. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
