Turtle Camp! Narnu-Yuwa ki-Wundanyukawu [Law for the Sea Turtle] Mamadthamburru [North Beach] Turtle Camp, 25- 27 Sep / 1-3 Oct 2013 In 2012, li-Anthawirriyarra Sea Ranger Unit held a highly successful eco trial at Mamadthamburru [North Beach] on West Island. Following on from the success of this venture, the Rangers, working on behalf of Yanyuwa/Marra Traditional Owners and the Simons family ngimarringki [owners] for West Island, invite paying guests to attend the camp in 2013 and share in this once in a lifetime experience. Guests will be transported to the island from Borroloola via vehicle/vessel and accommodated in plush eco tents, with all meals provided. During your stay you will meet with Yanyuwa/Marra families and participate in the fascinating research the Rangers undertake with Wundunyuka [sea turtles]. Island tours, during the day are also available, or you may elect to simply kick back and relax in pristine surrounds. Importantly, turtle camp represents one of many Yanyuwa enterprises either in development or currently being implemented. Your contribution will help to ensure the success of these ventures and secure the future of this invaluable research and the many other activities li-Anthawirriyarra undertakes to ensure that Yanyuwa and Marra country is looked after for generations to come.
