Tutors are busy people. They are volunteering their time, - TopicsExpress

Tutors are busy people. They are volunteering their time, devoting time to other important projects and causes, keeping in touch with friends, and staying on top of family commitments. Here is a wonderful resource from the same website, a selection of ready-made Lesson Plans for busy tutors. The only caution that I will mention is to remember your tutor training and keep in mind that our EAL tutoring approach is a learner-centred one, meaning that the lesson plan (whether self-organized or found online) must be flexible enough to accommodate your learner, and sometimes it must be thrown completely out the window if your learner has different needs that day. Listen to your learner and let the lesson evolve based on their needs, because just like tutors, learners are also busy people. They are dealing with all the same work, family, and social commitments, but they are also navigating life in a new country without perfect English skills. You can always use that lesson plan another time! Take a look at the lessons plans created by the folks at ESL Library esl-library/lessons.php ***The terms ESL (English as a Second Language) and EAL (English as an Additional/Another Language) are interchangeable, but it is felt in many circles that EAL is simply a more inclusive term because your learner may already speak more than 2 languages before they start learning English.***
