Tuğluk: AKP prefers the ISIS to the Kurds While the resistance in Kobanê led by YPG and YPJ fighters advances to victory in its 100th day, the Kobanê Crisis Coordination held a joint press conference in front of the Suruç Municipality regarding the situation of the Kobanê people who had to cross to the Turkish side of the border and the attitude of the AKP government against Kobanê resistance. The press conference was attended by Van deputies Aysel Tuğluk and Kemal Aktaş, HDP deputies İbrahim Ayhan, Faysal Sarıyıldız, the family of Sibel Bulut (Eylem Deniz) who recently fell in Kobanê, co mayor of Suruç Zuhal Ekmez, executives of DBP local branch as well as local people. Reading out the press statement on behalf of the Coordination, independent deputy for Van province, Aysel Tuğluk said the Kobanê Crisis Coordination has met the basic needs of 190 thousands of people from Kobanê coming to Suruç for 3 months, adding that the AKP government has not undertaken its duties mentioned in the international laws, on the contrary created obstacles for the aid works. “All the aid we provided was reclaimed by the AKP as if provided by itself. While the governor of Maras expelled the refuges to the border and left them without anything, the AKP government made no statements. It has still not opened a humanitarian corridor into Kobanê for the civilians. All these are nothing but support to ISIS gangs. It is a scandal that the ISIS gangs can carry out all the inhuman activities in front of the eyes of the Turkish soldiers”, said Tugluk. Tuğluk said primarily the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has pursued a hostile attitude against the freedom struggle of the people of Rojava, adding that this proves what kind of a Syria they prefer. Tuğluk said the AKP prefers ISIS to Kurds, failing to treat the democracy and resolution process in a rightful manner. Van deputy said only 10 thousand refugees from Kobanê are staying in the state run AFAD tent city while other 180 thousands of refugees receive no aid from the government, adding that the aid received by AFAD from other countries and international organisations has also not been used for 180 thousands refuges. The AKP must immediately share information with the public as to how it used all this aid, stressed Tuğluk and continued by giving the following information as regards to the aid provided by the Coordination: “The aid is delivered from 5 warehouses affiliated to our Coordination. There are 11 thousand of people currently staying in 5 cities run by the Coordination which is also in preparation of opening another tent city for 10 thousand people despite the obstacles created to us. 42 thousand of Kobanê people are hosted in the houses of the local people in Suruç. We also send aid for 69,600 Kobanê people staying in the Urfa city centre, as well as for 7,500 people in Adıyaman; 11 thousand in Amed; 3 thousand in Malatya; 3 thousand in Batman; 4 thousand in Mardin; 4,500 in Antep; 1,800 in Antalya and 1 thousand in Hatay, who are being hosted in houses in those cities”. Tuğluk stressed that the hostile attitude of the AKP government towards the Kurds and the people of Kobanê doesnt serve the sake of the peoples of Turkey, nor does the Turkish policy which prefers the ISIS chaos to the resistance of Rojava peoples, remarking that Turkey also acted provocatively by arresting wounded people from Rojava on the grounds of ‘reasonable suspicion’. Tuğluk further emphasised that the main victims of the artificial borders drawn with the Sykes-Picot Agreement have been the Kurds in the region, adding that this system is doomed to be dissolved by the Kobanê resistance. Tuğluk called on all aid organisations to take urgent action and the AKP government to abandon its hostile policies towards the refugees. ANF - URFA 23.12.2014 15:00:15
