Twas Grace that taught my heart to fear. And Grace, my fears - TopicsExpress

Twas Grace that taught my heart to fear. And Grace, my fears relieved. How precious did that Grace appear, The hour I first believed. NEVER, will I fear people in authority, because I went through the fire as a young child. I wont back down or run from people who have more power than I or more perceived authority than I. During my years as a black student in an all white school, I was challenged every day. I was called the N word at least once a day, I was kicked off of the school bus many times, I was told to take a Home Ec class because I was not going to college, even though all of my cousins before me had gone to college. Of course the school did not know that. All they saw was a negro girl, amidst a sea of their own college bound privileged children. Made me stronger and able to see now when discrimination, denigration and disparate treatment is taking place. I will stand for all people who are profiled for no other reason then they are a young black man in urban clothing, an Asian appearing man who does not speak English, a hispanic who looks 50 but the store clerk makes him show ID to buy a pack of cigarettes. I will NOT be quiet. So if you see me out somewhere and I correct someone for practicing the fine art of profiling, either speak up with me or go sit down somewhere because if not for Grace, there go I. ~ Twila Page 5/15/2014
