‘Twas the Night Before Christmas ‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all through Rolfe’s house Not a computer was humming, not even its mouse The Foundation’s Receipt Log was set out with care In hopes that more revenue soon would be there Kathy and Catie were asleep in their beds, While visions of bonuses danced in their heads, Board members in flannels and I in my nest Had settled our brains for a well deserved rest The moon on the breast of the new fallen snow Cast an eerie light in the office below When out of the dark a plump shadow appeared Hoisting a bag filled with letters. How weird! The letters were large and they looked all the same And he noted the contents and called them by name: “Now DASH, Now Sponsor, Now Tribute, Donation! On Outright, On Cruisin’ On Matching, Foundation!” He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work, And he opened the office door wide with a jerk, Then placing the letters on the round table there He made his way out – with nary a care With a wink of his eye and a twist of his head He knew the Foundation had nothing to dread For the letters contained what they needed all along: The money for those who had suffered too long.
