Twelve years ago I was at one of our terminals on the south side of Chicago and on the television saw the second plane hit. Leaving Chicago that afternoon, I remember how odd it seemed with no aircraft visible in the sky. When I got home I heard aircraft, looked up and saw Air Force One with fighter escorts flying east. I will never forget that day and the emotions I felt. The next morning, I saw a Chicago fire truck responding to a call with a big American flag unfurled. It reassured me that even though we lost so many lives, we still have heroes running toward danger while most run away.
