Twenty-five years ago I decided that I could call myself a world birder after I had seen three birds: a Harpy Eagle, a Kagu and a Shoebill. I saw a Harpy Eagle in Surinam in 2003, a Kagu on the island of New Caledonia in the south Pacific Ocean in 2007 and now I finally saw a Shoebill in Uganda. Roz and I are here in Uganda for three weeks looking at birds and mammals. I hope to reach 5,000 world birds later in the tour. Now that I saw all three birds that I had been searching for, I guess it is time to think of three others to chase. Perhaps Emperor Penguin, Philippine Eagle and Wallcreeper would be good choices. Any other suggestions?
