Twenty five years ago today my brother in law and I rode thru Jamestown and on to Macedonia in the Francis Marion National Forest and I was reminded of scenes from movies about atomic blasts. Just about the whole forest that could be seen from Highway 17-A between Jamestown and Saint Stephens was flattened. Very few trees were left standing and some of the ancient ones lay broken like matchsticks. Hope to never see a sight like that again!
