Twenty five years ago today, the Berlin Wall came down. Its funny, I swear this song played while it came down, but it was released after the wall came down (perhaps while the events still played out?) Either way, I remember that feeling of jubilation like it was yesterday. 25 years? Really? The wall stood from 1961 to 1989, 28 years. So, in just 3 more years, we can say the wall has been gone longer than it stood. For me, that is the lesson here. This too shall pass. Nelson Mandela was in prison for 27 years, having been released, coincidentally enough in 1990. So we will be celebrating the 25th anniversary of his release next year.
