Twenty years on from the 1994 ceasefire. At the time my husband - TopicsExpress

Twenty years on from the 1994 ceasefire. At the time my husband Gerry was one of only a handful of Irish Republican prisoners in jails scattered across the United States where hed been extradited to from tough prisons in Germany. He says that any hope they may have had of being released by Christmas as part of a good will gesture were soon dashed when, under the Clinton Administration, conditions became even tougher. He had to complete his full sentence before being deported to Ireland in 1996. There was, apparently, a legitimate expectation among the true, loyal Republican veterans that the British would have been long-gone from Ireland within 20 years. Instead, the British presence is stronger than ever. Sinn Féin runs British institutions, fawns before the English queen, encourages informing to the local British constabulary and the thankless nouveau riche Catholic shoneens keep the Diplock Court system running better than ever. Meanwhile, ceasefire shinners have the cheek to lecture and insult Republican veterans for not having a strategy. The SF strategy has clearly been a roaring success.
