We at Trek Mates, have arranged a Twin Treks to Prabalgad-Kalavantin & Camping on 24th & 25th May’ 2014 Little Info about The Fort : Type: Hill Fort Height: 2320 Feet above MSL (Approx) Grade: Medium Base Village: Thakurwadi Region: Panvel Endurance Level: Easy Prabalgad is situated on northeast side of Panvel, on Mumbai-Pune road. One can see it from express highway a V-Shaped one. The Left one is Kalwantin Durg & right side is Prabalgad. It is located on a plateau very close to Matheran. It was known as Muranjan until it was taken over and renamed by the Maratha forces under Shivajis rule. There is a dense forest on the way till the top of fort Prabal. Historical references indicate that Freedom fighter Umaji Naik made a stay here in 1826. Matheran, Chanderi, Shrimallang, Irshal Karnala, Manikgad, etc can be easily identified. The tentative itinerary for the Event is as given below: Day 01: Meeting Point: Panvel Station at 7:00 am. Breakfast at Panvel After Breakfast move ahead to the Base Village by Private Vehicle. Introduction, instructions and start the trek @ 9:00 am Reach the Machi @ 12:00 pm. Lunch & Rest till 3:30 pm After we move to Prabalgad Reached Prabalgad Top @ 5:00pm Explore the fort and start descending by 6:00 pm. Reach the Machi till 7:00 pm. Spend Evening Time at Machi & Enjoy the Sunset Post Dinner, Enjoy Camphire & Antakshari Retire for the day Day 02: Wake up @ 7:00am Breakfast Post Breakfast Hike till Kalavantin atop in the Morning. Explore the fort, and start descending by 10:30 am. Back to the Prabal Machi by 12.00pm. Lunch at Prabal Machi and Start our back journey by private vehicle. Reach Panvel by 4.00 pm.
