Twins of Faith Annual Conference. twinsoffaith/ The Annual Inaugural Twins of Faith Family Festival, is one of many projects for Mercy Mission under the Community Portfolio, and probably the best known in Malaysia. Why Twins of Faith? The two Twins of Faith are “Knowledge” and “Action“. The concept of Twins of Faith has an underlying intent to get people active & to seek knowledge. Our goal is to educate and mobilize all people towards positive social activism within their communities. This can be anything from assisting your neighbour to helping at the local masjid. The combination of knowledge and action is what separates this ummah from the previous ones; we find mention in the Quran of those nations who had knowledge but did not act upon it and those that acted without knowledge. Through the Twins of Faith we aim to inspire positive change and this is highlighted with 3 important elements: Inspiring: Inspiring through knowledge, through awareness of the prophet’s vision, through conversation and engagement. Positive: The type of inspiration that will be positive, will only lead to good things, positive for everyone – Muslim or non-Muslim. Change: Change has different facets to it: change in personal lives; in communal settings. Change is a progression since positive precedes it. We aim for change and progression in the areas of knowledge, awareness, piety, etc. Objectives and Description The overriding objective of the Twins of Faith annual conference is to raise awareness about local projects that need highlighting due to the ever growing need for them or to assist in making them known to the general public. By expressing solidarity amongst Muslims who attend the conference, we are able to portray to the larger community about the tolerance and the beauty of Islam and to irradicate the growing Islamaphobia that is taking place around the world. The conference will raise awareness of topics and issues relevant to our Malaysian community, it will seek to provide an intellectual framework within which to discuss and debate these important matters and will provide a forum for the local community to be exposed to the best international and local speakers, artists and scholars. Conference Format The conference is conducted over three days, usually over the Easter long weekend. The conference schedule includes lectures, workshops, and panel discussions. There is plenty of opportunity for delegates to engage with speakers and to ask questions. Delegates are also be entertained by quality local anasheed. Conference Facilities The conference also includes a “bazaar” area that contains a variety of stalls showcasing Muslim business and service organizations, as well as those non-Muslim organizations that are seeking to raise awareness amongst the Malaysian Muslim community. Delegates are able to purchase halal food from stalls at the venue. There are also facilities for delegates to make wudhu and to perform the prayers in congregation. Furthermore, the conference theme is Family Festival which allows all members of the family to benefit from such an event including children, parents, neighbours and co-workers as well as Muslims and Non-Muslims. Who Should Attend? Anyone who is interested in Islam, the conference theme and anyone who wishes to participate in a unique event that will, by the grace of Allah (swt), bring together eminently qualified international and local speakers, da’ees and scholars, to discuss topics and issues that are most relevant in today’s changing and challenging environment, are welcome to attend.
