Two Arrested In Dartmouth Green Assault Case Hanover, NH (July 2, 2014) – At 12:08 am, Dartmouth Security was notified of an assault in progress on the Dartmouth Green involving a single victim and three assailants. Master Police Officer Jeffrey Ballard arrived and learned that Hubert Clark, 23, a Dartmouth student, had been attacked by a group of men as he was walking across the Green. The assailants attacked Clark by surprise and continued to strike and kick the victim after he was on the ground. Clark was taken by ambulance to DHMC where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries. Shortly after the assault, Officer Alex Tucker located three men in the area who fit the description and they were detained in order to collect evidence that could possibly connect them to the crime. During their preliminary investigation, officers determined that two of the three suspects were involved in the assault, and that money and property was stolen from the victim in the course of the attack. The property was later recovered on the person of one of the suspects. Further investigation, including the possibility of additional charges and suspects, continues. Mark J. Ruppel, 26, of Canaan, NH, and Troy C. Schwarz, 20, of Lebanon, NH, stand charged with felony counts of Robbery, Second Degree Assault and Falsifying Physical Evidence. Both men were arraigned today in the 2nd Circuit Court–District Division–Lebanon.
