Two Clarksdale residents have been arrested and charged with the statutory rape of a teenager. An ongoing investigation by the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit of the Attorney General’s Office resulted in the probable cause arrests of Maurice Antonio Knight,31, and Michael Dantail Williams, 32, both of Clarksdale. Knight and Williams were arrested by investigators of the Attorney General’s Office with the assistance of the Clarksdale Police Department. Both are charged with statutory rape of a 15 year old and booked into the Clarksdale jail. If convicted, the defendants face up to 30 years behind bars. As with all cases the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. The case is being investigated and prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit.
