Two Docked for Wounding By Femi Juliet Jarrett- Coker George Edwin, presiding over the Freetown Magistrate Court No. 5 has remanded two accused persons last Friday for the offence of Wounding. The accused persons were charged with two counts, Wounding, contrary to section (20) of the Offense against the Person Act 1861, and Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm, contrary to section (47) of the Offense against the Person Act 1861. Court records state that the accused persons committed the crime on Monday 8th September this year at No. 4 Problyn Street, Freetown. They allegedly maliciously wounded Alpha Bundu and assaulted him in a manner thereby occasioning him actual bodily harm. Police Prosecutor, Inspector EIM May objected to bail on the grounds that the offense is a very serious one and that the accused persons pose flight risk if granted bail. Magistrate Edwin ruled that the accused persons should be remanded in prison and adjourned the matter to September 29th this year. In another development at the same court Joseph Mansaray was granted fifty million Leones bail and two sureties each in like sum. The sureties must be senior citizens residing in the Western Area and the bail bond must be signed by the Deputy Master and Registrar. The accused person was charged with one count of Disorderly Behavior contrary to section 12 of the Public Order Act of 1965 as repealed and replaced by section 12 (a) of Act no 15 of 1973 . The accused person allegedly committed the crime on Tuesday 25th September at Mountain Cut in Freetown. Defense Lawyer ET Koroma applied for bail on behalf of the accused person. He stated that the accused was beaten by bike riders the complainants in the matter. He stressed that the accused needed urgent medical attention.
