Two Fall Graduate Courses for STEM Teachers! These courses are included in the ASU MNS degree for middle school STEM teachers, but they are open to all middle and high school teachers who have taken a Modeling Workshop of 3 weeks duration. STM 591: APPLICATIONS IN STEM (3 credits) Thursdays, 4:40 to 7:30pm starting this week! Course line number: 83936 Instructor: Cory Waxman, physics & engineering teacher at Bioscience High School. Location: Bioscience High School in downtown Phoenix This project- and activity-based STEM course will explore the complex relationships among energy, society and the environment. These relationships will be examined and modeled through perspectives of physics, chemistry, life sciences, mathematics and, to some degree, social science, in order to inform better decision-making and lifestyle choices. Teachers will work collaboratively to develop fun and relevant strategies to enhance their own courses by utilizing the context of energy and the environment. Teachers will adapt existing curriculum materials related to energy and the environment to integrate into their own courses. STM 591: QUANTITATIVE MODELING (3 credits) Mondays, 4:40 to 7:30pm starting next week! Course line number: 83935 Instructor: Colleen Megowan, founder of the ASU Modeling Institute.
