Two Great-horned owls returned back to the wild this early - TopicsExpress

Two Great-horned owls returned back to the wild this early evening. One had suffered severe head and body trauma, including injuries to the eyes and feet; the other had also suffered trauma and was admitted severely emaciated, obviously having trouble surviving away from his parents. After the birds recovered from their injuries, they were moved to our raptor barn where they could fly and build muscle and gain strength, and were hunted to make sure they could provide for themselves in the wild. If youre hearing great-horned owls, its because they are courting. Great-horned are the first owls to nest and hatch young in the spring.
