Two Men Arrested For Overnight Home Invasion in Greenfield On Monday, October 27, 2014, at 11:32PM, Sergeant David Rice, and Officers Scott West and Jay Butynski responded to a residence in Lilac Court for a 911 caller reporting that a male subject ran into a house with a knife and stole some items. Officers interviewed the resident of apartment and a witness. The resident told them that she recognized the men who robbed her as people she used to work with, Ed Green and Robert Salls. She reported that Mr. Green held a knife to her throat before stealing items of hers and her friend. She also reported that Mr. Green grabbed her by her hair and dragged her back inside the apartment when she tried to flee out the back door. Witnesses provided a good description of the vehicle the suspects were seen leaving in. Officers researched Registry of Motor Vehicles records and determined that Mr. Salls had a vehicle matching that description registered in his name. A description of the vehicle and the names of the suspects were given out to surrounding police agencies. A short time later, Officer James Deery of the Montague Police Department spotted a vehicle matching the description given at the intersection of Eleventh and G Streets in Turners Falls. He stopped that vehicle and identified its operator as Robert Salls. Mr. Salls was alone in the vehicle. Officer Butynski responded to Turners Falls to assist. Mr. Salls was placed under arrest. The search for the other suspect, Mr. Green, continued with the assistance of the Massachusetts State Police and Deerfield Police Department. Based on information learned in the course of the investigation, officers searched the area of two residences on Davis Street in Greenfield for Mr. Green. Officer Garrett Danna of the Deerfield Police Department located Mr. Green hiding beside a shed in the backyard of a Davis Street residence; he was placed under arrest. Items that had been reported stolen by the victim were located in the possession of Mr. Green. Charges are being sought against Jasper Green III, age 50, of Greenfield, for Home Invasion, Armed Burglary, Conspiracy, Assault & Battery by Dangerous Weapon, Kidnapping, Assault & Battery, and Assault by Dangerous Weapon. Charges will be sought against Robert Salls, age 27, of Turners Falls, for Home Invasion, Armed Burglary, Conspiracy, Assault by Dangerous Weapon, and Assault. Mr. Green and Mr. Salls will be arraigned in Greenfield District Court this morning. The Greenfield Police would like to thank the Montague Police, Deerfield Police, and Massachusetts State Police for their assistance with this incident.
