Two New York City police officers while sitting in their car eating their lunches while on temporary assignment in Brooklyn (Kings County) were shot in their heads and killed execution-style on Saturday afternoon, according to Deputy Inspector Terence Hurson, the commanding officer at the 121 Precinct stationhouse. The police execution occurred at the intersection of Myrtle Avenue and Tompkins Avenue in Bedford-Stuyvesant a high-crime area of Brooklyn. Police officers are reporting to the Examiner that the perpetrator, a young black male, shot and killed himself inside a subway station not far from the scene of the killings. The busy subway station has been closed and roped off as a crime scene by police detectives. Both officers were rushed to a city-operated medical center, Woodhull Hospital, where they were pronounced died on arrival (DOA). The officers were on special assignment for an anti-terrorism drill and usually serve in the Bronxs 44 Precinct. Their identities were being withheld at this time, according to officials at One Police Plaza. At least four witnesses who saw the shooting and provided police with details of the shooting and its aftermath.
