Two Olympic gold medals were among the items stolen from Dumfries Museum on Wednesday night. A selection of other historic Curling Club medals, a silver gilt casket and the Provost’s Chain of Burgh of Maxwelltown were also stolen in the incident. The total value of the items stolen is estimated to exceed £34,000. The theft happened at around 10pm – three individuals in dark clothing were seen running away onto Rotchell Road in the direction of Park Farm. Where you in the area? Did you see anything suspicious? Have you seen or been offered the items since? The medals –from the 1924 and 2002 Winter Games - are unique and hold a huge amount of emotional attachment to the owners. If you have any information please call police on 101 or anonymously with Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
