Two Things That People Should Remember I recently moved to - TopicsExpress

Two Things That People Should Remember I recently moved to Hyderabad, my birth place, but I carry a big baggage of memories of my time in Noida and Gurgaon, especially Gurgaon, which has been the center of action for me for several years. I miss that energy in the atmosphere here in everyday life. Besides, I realize how fortunate I am, to have been part of some revolutionary moments. While the nation cried for Nirbhaya, I was part of the crowd that had gone through irrationalities and atrocities of Mr. Shinde as a Home Minister; also been part of anti-corruption movement standing behind Anna ji and even shouting slogans in favor of Mr. Kejriwal to form a political party. Many months passed, many issues came up since then and the nation is busy anticipating the next government in the country. But what remain are those memories and lessons learned. I should thank all those people who came out on street to demonstrate their displeasure with the system - even anger. Thanks to all the leaders - Anna ji, Kiran ji, Kejriwal ji and many others who made sure there was an AWAKENING across the nation OR at least gave the conscience a voice. Having lived in Gurgaon for many years, I possible share this experience where the Police would not start talking to anyone without the adjectives like “MC and BC”; cases of bribery and A**-licking were common practice. But it changed. Officers were afraid of taking bribes, they were afraid of “manhandling” citizens…..a very rare practice for those who hail from the national capital region. As a common man, I could claim my rights irrespective of the position of the person in front of me. For this, the flag bearers of such movements DO deserve an applaud – yes people like Anna, Kiran Bedi and Kejriwal. When AAP had formed government in Delhi, as a common man I did experience a change among officials and people in general………This change is very important irrespective of who sits on the top. Any party that forms the government must realize that the common people in Delhi/NCR have experienced what being a FEARLESS CITIZEN feels like, what it tastes like to FIGHT FOR YOUR RIGHTS and it will remain, we will make sure it remains. These changes came at GREAT COST -of losing a life, of so many sleepless and painful nights by the protagonists of movements. Irrespective of what the “political” situation is today, WE THE PEOPLE have not forgetten the cost we have paid to arrive at this common conscience. Any government that is formed this month, must remember this OR there is another revolution brewing around the corner.
