Two and half years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent a new country named South Sudan conceived in liberty, peace, freedom and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal. We won our freedom (Independent) in South Sudan when we had the revolution, by bloodshed, by sacrificing human life. Now we are engaged in a great civil or ethnic or political war which left more than 2,000 people death, testing whether this nation or any nation so conceived and so dedicated can long endure. It’s my prayers that this current crisis end soon and the political dialogue will bring future worth having. I meant a future, not of concentration camps, not of physical torture, not of marginalization, corruption free, not of tribalism, and mental straitjackets – I meant a future when free men will live free lives in dignity in security, peace.......... It is rather for us, the living, we here be dedicated to the great task remaining before us – that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion. I here resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain, that this nation shall have a new birth of freedom, and the government of the people, by the people, and for the people shall rain forever.
