Two articles in the New York Times Op Ed pages on Friday dealt with President Obama’s new immigration policy. One was concerned about how this Executive Order would affect the 2016 election and the other talked about doing was right for humanity. My thoughts lead me to realize that immigration policy affects us all. In the early 1900s my mother’s parents emigrated from Hungary. In the 1960’s my sons’ father emigrated from Pakistan. It doesn’t matter whether they were brown or white, without the immigration policies of the 20th century, I would not exist and neither would my two sons. So for all of you, who are worried about the political fallout of this, keep in mind where you came from and whether your own existence stems from the immigration policies that brought your own parents together.
