Two contemporaries were honored with home goings last evening. Both were dears of dear friends. Both were private people and their passing completely unexpected. Both were dearly loved. An evening of stories, some tough, most others touching, poignant and true. What is the great takeaway? Simply that through great loss we are provided with a vivid reminder to hold those we love even closer. And to say how we feel without fear. I love my lifelong friend Gil, and was so awed by the tribute he gave to our friend and fallen soldier. Everyone should have a Gilbert-quality friend in their lives. In the end, our wealth is measured not by what possessions we hold, as Bruce showed us, but what we impart. We have but each other and our stories. Enjoying close friends and family is the ultimate currency of an abundant blessed and charmed life, unexpected where it leads. Thank you Gilbert for the wonderful reminder of what we have together and always.
